Habana Cafe - Huntington Beach (Beach and Main)

This is a new(er) location for the people who operate the Habana Cafe in Downey, which has consistently produced yummy Cuban food each time my family has gone over the past few years.

Maybe someone's already posted on this location, but I'm not too keen w/ the search capabilities, so I'll share my experience anyways. =)

Not sure exactly when they opened the HB location, but we went and tried it today, and I'll venture to say that it's the best Cuban food I've had in OC. We've been to Havana in CM (btw, most of the Cubans I know incl my FIL's family won't eat anywhere they name the dishes after Fidel), Rafi in Tustin before it closed, and Felix Continental in Orange (OK in a pinch, but not if you're willing to drive to LA - but of course this is before Habana HB!).

Even superior to the food at the Downey location (but this may be more grand opening syndrome than anything else - only time will tell.)

We ordered the following, All EXCELLENT! I love that they don't skimp on the saffron, nor the portions, but again, may be the grand opening thing...

Rabo Encendido (Oxtail - my fave Cuban dish)
Arroz Con Pollo a la Chorrera (i.e., rice more like risotto than grainy)
Fricasee de Pollo
Bistec de Palomilla
Ensalada de Aguacate (this avocado was GOOD!)
Flan (a little on the heavy side, but still delicious)

No one in our family does Moros y Cristianos, so the rice and beans separate with the fried platanos maduros (not greasy at all) were also fantastic.

Yays (or is it yeas - always stumps me) or nays from other hounds?

Btw, happy new year to all.
