I went off to Ireland and am back and am getting nervous about this!
The scenerio: 25 relatives coming in from NY, Conn, Ohio, Texas for a wedding of my nieces. These folks have NOT been invited to the rehersal dinner (and should have been imho) but then again, I am the aunt and I was not either (I know, family problems are another message board!)
However, they/we HAVE been invited to a Drinks and Desert event at 8:30pm (after the rehersal dinner) at the Fairmont Hotel in Santa Monica.
So, since there are so many of us, staying in different hotels, etc. I thought it would be fun to all have dinner together before the Drinks/Desert event at 8:30.
But, you know how hard that can be:and some of the New Yorkers in our group are NOT easy to please....
Looking for: good food (not Mexican or Asian, Italian I am not sure about since many are from NY afterall)
Cost: Not too worried here-should be under $40 an entree though
Noise Level: low enough where we can talk and get caught up on each others lives....
Here is what I am looking into (and I asked this about 2 months ago):
Joes in Venice
Michaels (called and they will have to give us a mini-menu (2 starters and 3 entrees) to chose from.
Chart House(someone mentioned this) don't know if they accomodate groups well
Il Fornio-ok, that is Italian, would I be foolish to do this?
Are there other nice restaurants in Santa Monica/Venice or MDR I should consider? What do you think of these options?
I am a bit nervous about it since I live 3 hours away...so you can see why this is difficult to plan....
I will be making some calls today...
Oh yeah, a few are already a bit upset at coming that far and not getting invited to the rehersal dinner....
so I'm putting myself out there so we can just have a nice time anyway...
Gosh, thanks for any help and opinions you can give me...
