This place was simply, horrible.
We've read such positive reviews of this place on chowhound, that the quality of their food and service was a complete shock to us. This place is many many tiers below restaurants like the Salts in Cambridge, our current favorite.
Party of 4, among our dishes:
# truffle soup : extremely rich and thick, probably good as a pasta sauce, but too much as a soup
# gnocchi with pork, mushrooms, etc : this was o.k., best of the items we tried
# duck breast stuffed with apple with shaved black truffles, bacon : tender, a bit on sweet side, but o.k. One of their better dishes.
# beef tenderloin with cheese risotto: this was the worst, simply not edible. Risotto was extremely rich in cheese and extremely salty. Meat had a liver-like consistency, which we hated.
We were seated across from the food prep area entrance/curtain, so we could not only see the staff's facial expressions and body gestures, but could also hear clearly their unflatteringly remarks about customers. That was a complete turn off for us.
As if we weren't already uncomfortable enough, when asked how our food was, I commented that some of the entrees were too rich. I was being tactful, considering we found a lot of our dishes inedible and left them uneaten. Answering thus, in retrospect, was a mistake-- not only was my comment ignored, our entire table was ignored from that point on. We were surprised by this unprofessional reaction. We had to ask several times for our bill, and the staff just stared and completely ignored us as we were leaving!
What a waste of money. This was an unpleasant dining experience.
