Greek Festival and authentic joints

Went to the Greek festival in Oakland on Sunday evening. Great atmosphere, lots of music, dancing, happy folks and yummy food. We shared: spanakopita- super rich with very flaky fillo, very delicious; gyro-good quality meat and bread, good but ordinary; the fried cheese thing with lemon (can't remember the name), salty, chewy and crisp/acidic on the outside; and lakoumades, the inevitable fried dough thing, very fresh and not greasy, drenched in honey and sprinkled with chopped walnuts. This is a must do, have put it on the calendar for next year. Set me thinking to my New York days, going to local Greek joints in Astoria, Queens and having huge plates of fresh grilled fish and meats, lots of taramasalata and copper pitchers of achingly cold retsina. Any recs for similar places around here?
