Great Vietnamese in San Mateo- Anh Hong

I've been to this place several times for lunch and today I decided to share my experiences. I think this place is fairly new and if you've ever driven by and wondered about it, you should pop in to check it out.

I went in search of the best Pho in the area a while back and this place definitely stood out as the best out of the ones I visited. It has an excellent balance of flavors, very high quality ingredients.

Their Pho Ga (chicken version) is also wonderful. It's incredibly soothing and perfect for the recent weather. Today, I thoroughly enjoyed their Ha Bo Kho, which I would describe as the Vietnamese equivalent of beef noodle soup. It was rich and soothing with big chunks of meltingly tender meat, carrots, and thin egg noodles. The broth had a melange of spices that I can't completely describe, but I know there was some cinnamon and ginger in there.

This place has a nice atmosphere for lunch or an inexpensive dinner. Everyone who works there is very friendly. If you're looking for good Pho, go there. I have yet to try any of their other dishes, but it's only a matter of time. I've also definitely noticed each time I go, it gets more and more crowded.
