I'm reviewing this place even though its got to be one of the all time most reviewed restaurants ever...that said i think its one of the more consistent and solid restaurants in chinatown (and im pretty critical of most restaurants in ctown b/c they're not that good). We went again today for lunch and got two things:
1) beef with flowering chives - this was really good, i kept reading about the flowering chive dishes and it was good. It's tender slices of beef with long thin vegetables in a black bean sauce...the flowering chives are sort of similar to string beans, but smaller and much thinner...im curious as to what they are b/c they say the same thing in chinese literally chive flower (jiu cai hua)
2) salt baked squid - everyone knows what this is and it was again very good
As long as you take it for what it is (cheap cantonese comfort type food) then Great NY Noodletown is very good...
