A great night in the East Village

My business dinner date cancelled. Figured I'd try out the new hardcore Neopolitan pizzeria Una Pizza Napoletana last night. Doh!!! Only open Thursady through Sunday. Damn. Well, let's stroll. Never been to Lil Frankie's so I stroll down 1st Ave. Nah. Not the crowd when I'm eating alone. Stroll back up 1st Ave. and realize I'm standing in front of Caracas Arepa Bar. Mmmmmm. HAven't been in ages. Just great, with a special grilled chicken and carmelized onions arepa. That was plenty, but I remembered reading about some dumpling place on St. Marks Place. One of my wife's favorite foods, so I stroll and find Dumpling Man. Wow. Watch the row of Chinese ladies making fresh, fresh dumplings. Had one chicken and one shrimp dumpling (shrimp was far better). Excellent. Strolling back to the west side, I run into a friend who I haven't seen in months. Long chat. All in all a great evening.
