Great Natto-soba at Sobaya

Eric Eto | Apr 26, 2003 01:53 AM

After all this talk about natto on the What's my craving board really got me craving it, and the natto soba at Sobaya really hit the spot. It was on the specials section of the menu, so I'm not sure if it's a regular item. The set comes with a large bowl of cold soba with chiffonade of shiso leaf, another smaller bowl filled with natto and grated yam, garnishes of wasabi, grated daikon radish, and green onions, and a container of a cold soy/dashi broth. Take the broth and mix it into the natto/grated yam mixture with the garnishes to your liking and mix thoroughly and pour it on top of the soba. The only thing that could have made this better was a raw egg to mix into the natto mixture. If you're a natto nut like me, you'll really enjoy this dish.
