We had three nights in New Orleans and very much enjoyed eating at Herbsaint, Cochon (where we spotted Mario Batali), and August. All three served inventive interpretations of classic New Orleans cuisine. Cochon was bustling, noisy, young and fun. Herbsaint and August were quieter and more elegant, catering to an older crowd. Would be happy to revisit that trio on our next trip. The fresh and barbecued oysters at Acme were divine. Lunch at Bon Ton was eminently forgettable; the place seemed tired. Surprisingly, I was underwhelmed by the beignets at Cafe du Monde.
