I have never heard great things about Patou. But, I was forced to go there by a co-worker last night. I have to let you guys know that I was pleasantly surprised. I honestly don't understand why this place gets such a bad rap. We loved it!
We started off with boullaibaise for 2. It was a STEAL at only $13! It comes in a pot that is brought to the table. There was a generous serving of shrimp, scallops, squid and fish. It's served "deconstructed" and you make it yourself. It was excellent!
Next we shared tuna tartar and escargot. Both were absolutely flavorful and delicious.
For entrees, I had the tuna and lobster brochette for $19. The portion was enormous. Many pieces of wonderfully seasoned tuna on a skewer and a huge shelled lobster claw.
My friend had the pork tenderloin over lentils. The pork was a tad dry (isn't it always?) but the flavor was outstanding.
Desserts are all made in house. We tried a warm chocolate cake and an apricot honey lavender and praline mousse cake - mouth watering!
The wine was also outstanding: château la casenove la garrigue
I suggest you give this place another chance. It was very reasonably priced and really good.
