Looking for a great find for a birthday dinner

looking for that great birthday place | Apr 22, 2004 02:50 AM

Hello all-

I've just moved back to the city after a long stint abroad, looking to have a birthday dinner next week, and would like somewhere hippishly relaxed, priced between $20-$30, good food, can accomodate a group of 10-15. Nothing that requires sacrificing my first-born to get reservations and where the topic of conversation is how the place looks much cooler than the food tastes. Though it doesn't hurt if it looks cool.

Food can be anything, French, Italian, Fusion, Asian.
Looking in the Gramercy, W. Village, Nolita area. Not looking for too divey of a place.
Some places that I've gotten suggestions about:
Les Enfants Terrible, 1492, Sumile, craftbar (but they don't take reservations).

Is this a lost cause? Would really appreciate ANY input.

Many Thanks in advance.
