Great (new-old) Dim Sum experience in Windsor/Detroit

Demian | Jun 27, 2005 10:02 AM

After about a 2 year break from Windsor dim sum, Sunday we tried the former Wah Court Inn on University. Now known as the May Wah Inn which we were told was the result of a business venture of former Wah Court Chef. The chase: Great! The food was imaginative (yes!) many new dishes. The classics even showed imagination. Service was outstanding (for DS) trays (2-4 different dishes per tray) were available at least every 3-4 minutes.

Party of 4 adults, 2 kids, we arrived around 11:00 AM and were seated right away in the (now about twice as large as in the old days) back room. We called ahead for seating although it didn't prove to be necessary- in the old days, an hour wait was not unusual.

Anyway, now that our stand-in Eastlake Restaurant at Rochester and Long lake is condemned (remodeling) we are headed back to Windsor, and the former wah court inn is reborn and recommended. Even the detroit-windsor tunnel was fast and easy, although at $6us for the round trip, not a bargain.

Anybody with metro detroit dim sum suggestions, I'm all ears.
