Went to Riingo today for breakfast, rather unexpectedly. Even more unexpectedly, I ordered the asian breakfast -- which is sticky rice, smoked salmon, and a scrambled soy egg (I am a banana pancakes/pecan french toast/goat-cheese omlete kind of breakfast eater). Sounds like it could be bad, right? THINK AGAIN!
My god, it was one of the best breakfasts I've ever eaten!!!!
The 'scrambled soy egg' was perfection, possibly the best scramble I've ever had...I'm still not sure how it's done, but it was the perfect consistency, savory flavor, the herbs...perfect. The smoked salmon was what you only hope you knew to order. It was essentially fresh smoked-salmon, with a pepper crust I think, thickly sliced, meaty and dense, not oily, full of flavor, incredible. The sticky rice offered the plainer, palate-cleansing portion of the plate, topped with fresh chives.
I would never have ordered this, ever, but the friendly staff told me it was great if I had some interest in trying it (after asking them for hints). What a nice space too, I might add, with the front of the place a giant glass atrium essentially, and the bright sun spilling in. Had the above with their excellent coffee and fresh squeezed grapefuit juice, and am left w/a very memorable experience!!!!
