Grass-fed meat in bulk?

A few friends and I are thinking about ordering a side of beef (or maybe a pig) and splitting up the meat. We all live in the District and are pretty committed to eating locally, and this is a much less-expensive way to do it than getting it all at the farmers' market or Whole Foods. I'm willing to drive out to the farm to pick everything up. Does anyone have any experience doing something like this? Any farms to recommend? We're looking for something that would work out to $6-$8/lb.
