yesterday i had wonderful lunch with my sister at gramercy tavern. truthfully i wasn't expecting much for this one because my past dining experiences at union square cafe were never satisfying if not disappointing. i would have to say gramercy tavern is danny meyer's best restaurant.
for appetizer i had seared foie gras complimented with sour cherries (Mmmmm!) the combination of both literally melted in my mouth. the trick is to eat everything together in one bite to get ohhh-ahhh effect.
my sister had marinated hamachi with beets(?)which was delicious. however im spoiled by kuruma zushi and can't say quality of hamachi was at his best.
for entree i had lobster with roasted tomato and artichoke. this one was truely light and simple. i especially enjoyed roasted tomato more than lobster itself. oh yeah i almost forgot to mention that this lobster was served cold. ususally i hate "cold" dish. i detest anything(entree) cold however this one was exceptional. usually i try to avoid ordering lobster because i find them either too chewy or drenched in butter. thank god, this one was cooked to perfection.
my sister ordered hanger steak, and unfortunately i didnt get to taste her entree since i was too busy working on mine. but she was happy enough to not say a word about her main course. usually my sister always has to say something(negative) about everything she eats.
i dont have much to say about desserts. all of them were decent at their best.
