New Gramercy Mexican

A new Mexican restaurant called Los Dos Molinos opened at 119 E. 18th St. recently in the former Spencer's location between Park Ave South & Irving Place. A friend & I tried it on Saturday night and it was pretty good, although there weren't many customers. Los Dos Molinos does not yet have a liquor license or accept credit cards, so I can't say how the margaritas were. We had some chips, with salsa that was actually spicy! I had a chicken burro and my friend had chicken soft tacos and both of our mains were good. My fave was actually the blue corn tamale that we split to start. All in all, I think its worth checking out.

FYI, according to our waiter, the family that owns it also owns two restaurants by the same name in Arizona.

Also, on the subject of Mexican restaurants, last week I tried Mexican Radio for the first time since it moved from Mulberry to Cleveland place and I didn't like it as much. Perhaps it was that by moving to such a large space it lost the intimate feeling it had.
