When I lived in Munich nearly 50 years ago, a staple at any Gasthaus was Gulashzuppe(sp?). It was dirt cheap and very hearty and flavorful; I could compare it to watery Chili in its consistency and zesty flavor (I don't mean that it tastes like chili, but it's as tasty and filling).
I have never, ever, found it in a German restaurant in the US, nor in any kind of market, nor even in cookbooks.
Is anybody else familiar with this wonderful stuff, and able to recommend a way to find it in the USA?
