So it's that time of year again - Derby Time! Louisville has shut down for the past week with preparations for the event taking precedence over everything else. And my friends, whether they are Kentucky natives or planning a party in Texas, are asking me for the best Hot Brown recipe that is out there. It's hard to say which is the best - personally, my aunt can give the Brown Hotel a run for the money!
But I guess it's like that everywhere with favorite local foods - one place claiming that they have the best Philly Cheesesteak while the restaurant just across the street claims that they have it. Living in Louisville it's fun to see, and eat, this feud first hand. Though it makes me wonder what other places or entrees are also creating a stir like this? Anyone have a funny story or an example that they don't mind sharing? Maybe something that the rest of us know nothing about? Where have you seen a special local or regional dish get caught in the crossfire of a dispute between dedicated foodie partisans?
