good, reliable weekday lunch in southwest DC / L'Enfant?

I'm at 7th and D st.

I've gotten excellent sushi in 2 places in the L'Enfent Promenade, but other places have been really uneven. Recommendations like the Holiday Inn buffet were a waste of time- that food tasted boring and warmed over the day I was there.

L'Enfant has a weird wednesday farmer's market, but the prices were high- $8 for a mushroom sandwich, even if it looked cool. then Meaty McHeartattack soul food tables didn't make me look further. the holiday inn also has a barbecue day that was too heavy for me.

I dug the 7th st pier restaurant on the waterfront, but it's pricey for lunch more than once a month. I can walk to the Maine Ave boats, but after the dude died from eating there I haven't gone back. Anyone do that regularly?

coworkers have suggested government-run cafeterias as well- I'm open.

What would any of you suggest for the better places around the mall and southwest DC that would be good for lunch in the under $10 vein? I could walk as far as capitol hill.

Don
