Found good Cuban food in Westchester

Just Larry | Feb 21, 2004 05:03 PM

I was having lunch at the new Crepe place across from the Westchester Alejo's. The Spinach Mushroom Crepe was pretty good and the Red Bean Paste Crepe was also pretty good but the Smoked Salmon with Swiss Crepe was dreadful. I did not eat breakfast and it was 1:00 and I was starving but I could not eat more than 2 bites. Disgusting process cheese flavor and you have to eat it from a cardboard cone. Never again. While I was looking out the window regreting my choice of restaurant, I looked across the mini-mall parking lot and saw a sign that said Tiny Island, Cuban American Restaurant and Deli. We left the crepe place and went right into Tiny Island. They have lots of Cuban food and also have a deli case full of Boar's Head meats. I wanted something fast and good. Ordered the Media Noche sandwich. It was small but it was really good. The Lechon was falling apart tender and the Deluxe Boar's Head Ham was excellent. I can't wait to come back to try more of the menu. The lady that took the order could not have been nicer. They also have Empanadas and Tostones. I would never have seen this place driving by. Check it out.
