If anyone here hasn't had the good fortune of trying the BBQ at Mustang Creek BBQ, located between El Campo & Victoria, TX on Hwy 59, you owe it to yourself to eat there.
Cecil does a great job on everything he cooks there; all done on a huge pit that sits behind the counter so you can watch it being done. All done on oak and the meat is cut by Cecil himself right in front of you.
The sides are decent with the beans being seasoned just right and the rice salad a little on the sweet side for my tastes, but the buttered taters are good.
The pork ribs are way above par as is the brisket while the sausage from Elgin is not as good as I like. Prasek's nearby has some great sausage and I wish that Mustang Creek BBQ served it.
The tin building which contains the pits and picnic tables for dining on isn't much to look at, but the smoke covered walls and ceilings tell you that some serious cooking has been done here. Part of the dining room floor is gravel and part is cement so the atmosphere is typical south Texas.
The exact location of this BBQ place is just south of Louise, Texas on US Hwy 59 and north of Ganado, Texas.
