I've been reading the recent reports Pizzaiola and comparisons with Gioia.
I first read about Gioia in the SFChron I think. Raves about the place. So we went by and ordered a pizza (mushrooms and something - it was about 2 months ago so I'm not sure).
I thought it was pretty good, but the crust was flabby. We started eating it in the car on the way home right after we bought it so it wasn't flabby due to steaming inside its box. We were disappointed. I mean, the pizza was tasty but it didn't seem much different from the regular pies one gets at places like Giovannis (of course I haven't been to Giov's for about 80 years and anyway, always liked Salerno better). The way the Chron was going on, I thought it'd be fabulous and heavenly.
What do other folks think?
I don't know about Pizzaiola but it sounds like a great thing. Always wonderful to have places open up near where one lives. Will try it asap.
PS: I notice that my recent posts (save for Millan Market and Vanni's) have been grumblings and kvetchings...I really do like lots of places! Really.
