Ginko Leaf report

polimorfos | Jul 28, 2002 11:25 AM

Had a very enjoyable meal at Ginko Leaf on Union next to the Fire Station. Ordered primarily from the specials list - A great aji (horse mackeral) sashimi plate, oshizushi (pressed sushi - great quality rice), hijiki (too sweet), and a wonderful Sake named "Mu" I believe. Nice tranquil garden in the back. Large sake menu and many interesting specials and dishes you won't find in your other Bklyn sushi options (chawan mushi, uni gohan, kimpira). I fear it may be too refined for your typical spicy tuna roll crowd....it was pretty empty at 10 on Saturday. Typically, I think all Brooklyn Japanese is pretty mediocre, but Ginko Leaf (and perhaps Tamari on 5th) offer a lot of promise.

Curious to hear other reports.....
