Help! Gifting an Anniversary Dinner to my Parents

Hello from LA! This weekend is my parent's 29th anniversary and although I wish I could celebrate with them in person, I thought treating them to a night out would be the next best thing. Whenever I'm home I try to take them to a great restaurant, such as Morimoto, Amada, and Distrito.

After a little reading, I was considering a giftcard for Osteria. My parents are definitely adventurous eaters, but I'd prefer something more comfortable and familiar for this meal. (plus I'm saving Zahav for my next trip home :D). So the big questions are:

What's the best restaurant for a great anniversary meal for 2?

and of equal importance:

What's the proper $$ amount of a giftcard to cover apps, entrees, a shared dessert and 2 glasses of vino plus tax. Oh, and I suppose a place that has giftcards would be a must.

Thanks guys! I can't wait to hear your suggestions!
