I was exploring some Chinatown fishmongers on Monday and saw a couple interesting things...particularly four geoduck clams at a particularly sketchy looking fishmonger on Race between 9th and 10th. If you've never seen one, do a google image search and check them out, they are some freaky looking things, with thick, foot-long siphons protruding out of their big shells.
At $18/lb, I won't be experimenting with them, but I'd love to hear about it if anyone else feels the urge. They were sushi grade so I imagine that's the only worthwhile purpose. Jasper White has a geoduck clam chowder recipe, which calls for $50 of clams at that price.
I also saw some steamer "soft-shell" clams somewhere, which I've not seen elsewhere in the area...
