I'm going to be in New Orleans for five days (encompassing the FQ Fest), and this will be my first time...among all the wonderful things to do in the city, I admit that I'm dreaming about the food most of all.
I know I'm going to have to make impossible restaurant choices since I'll only be in New Orleans for 5 days, but one restaurant I think I'm going to make a "must do" is Galatoires. I've read the Friday lunch (downstairs) is great, for people watching amongst other things, but I've also read that dinner is something special. I love great food, and great atmosphere (though to me, great atmosphere can be found in a "dive") - I'm having a hard time deciding which would be the more memorable dining experience.
Currently, my list of restaurants is huge, but I'll be narrowing it down in a matter of weeks.
My current list of definite/probables/no way I can eat at all these places:
Dick and Jenny's
Bon Ton Cafe
I love good food, and good food can be fancy and unfancy, served in beautiful surroundings or served in "dives". I'm game for most thing. I realize that many, if not all of the above, have been discussed ad nauseum, but any comments would be appreciated. I'm sure I'm missing some wonderful local hangouts. Clearly, I'm going to have to narrow my options - although I will be in N.O. for 6 nights, which is pretty nice.
I would appreciate any input
