New Yorker heading on solo road trip of my dreams through Arizona. I understand the food will be more limited than the views but any advice on how to eat well is appreciated.
Trip advisor reviews for Chinle, Kayenta, Holbrook etc tend to mention fry bread and navajo tacos. Happy to try-but not necessarily for every meal over long trip. Is somewhere particularly great for fry bread? Or are there places where healthier alternatives should be optimized? Also any recs for a place in Sedona to stock up on healthy, tasty provisions to take along for the trip?
Sedona clearly has more options. Reading lots about Elote Cafe. Intrigued by many bison options at Cowboy Club. Looking to optimize food experience but also enjoy a nice bar scene for a solo diner (particularly as dreading the dry portions of the trip in Navaho nation). Thoughts?
GC-will definitely go to El Tovar. Anything else to try there or recs for lunch to break up final drive back to Phoenix?
Am I missing anything else? Any other Arizona foods/spots not to be missed?
All help is much appreciated!
