Frozen mussels

Several years ago, there was a glut of smoked mussels around - you could buy them everywhere, even in the local Market Basket. They seem to have dissapeared. Maybe it's a limited market - but I found these to be ideal picking food - hors d'ouvres - really good with premium beer or a dry white like a sauvignon blanc.

A couple of months ago, I was in the Chinese grocery store in Chelmsford (M&H Oriental Food Market on Summer Street) and found a large bag of frozen, shelled mussels. Probably a 3lb bag, no labels - which I bought for about $8.00. I brined and smoked these - and they came out really, really good. My sons and I ate them up, and I knew that this was one item I was going to make for the upcoming holiday parties. I went back for more just before Thanksgiving, and they were out. They've never had them since. I went to China Merchandise in Burlington, but they never had them.

Does anybody know if there are places in Boston Chinatown that would regularly carry something like this? I've seen boxes of frozen half-shelled green-point mussels, but they are too expensive and too much work. Other shellfish work, especially scallops, but none are as good as mussels.

Thanks in advance for any info.
