friend in from Germany claims to be dying for good American food

I have a friend in the States from Germany for a few days who is attending a wedding on Saturday (with what is likely to be bland and boring food). She's dying for a good American dinner and she's a foodie from Chicago - so I want to do right by her (she's introduced me to some great places in her hometown). I've realized that my dining out choices usually sway to ethnic ... so I thought I'd better get some advice. Was thinking of Buck's Fishing & Camping on Connecticut, District Chop House in Penn Quarter, Johnny's Half Shell in Dupont, Firefly in Dupont - but am completely open to suggestion. Would like mid-range prices and great atmosphere. What are your thoughts?
