Will frequent 500F baking hurt my oven?

I have a very ordinary electric range from Sears, 15 years old, works just fine--BUT--recently I've heard that the high temps needed for Lahey bread and Zuni chicken are causing damage. Any real reason to worry? Is the oven under any increased "strain" at 500 than at 350?
