Its true. Free steak & lobster for you if you visit this restaurant on your birthday. Just bring proof of your D.O.B. and another paying customer and you can enjoy steak & lobster with all the trimmings. What a deal, right? Wrong. I tried to keep an open mind as I was being ushered to my seat at this steakhouse located on the Sammamish Plateau. I had a good reason to think that this would be a good experience (being my first time there) because, after all, the DCs Grill is owned by the same company which owns the Metropolitan Grill and Union Square Grill. But my mind started to close in as soon as I got my dinner. If I had been blind-folded for the trip, and then asked to guess where I was eating based on the looks and taste of this meal, Id guess I was seated at Claim Jumpers or Outback Steakhouse! Heres what was on my plate: a lobster tail that was the size of a tiger prawn, a steak that tasted like it was sitting in a salt-brine for too long (nicely cooked though), over-cooked steamed vegetable reminiscent of my mothers cooking, and I mountain of mashed potatoes that consumed half the plate (hence the Claim Jumper reference). Im confused. If it was the intention of the restaurateur to drum up business for this sleepy suburban steakhouse, they didnt do it with me, or anyone I might know for that matter. If someone out there has had a positive experience with this place, let me know...maybe I need to give it another try.
