back again for a late lunch with my friend the regular. FRANKIES is super as always.
to start we got a bottle of some italian white, sorry i dk what it was as i did not order or pay attention, but it was ok.
for mains i had the Squash and Yam Ravioli with Sage & Chesnut in Parmesan Broth, which i am addicted to. with soup-like broth this is a fantastic dish for cold weather. dining companion had another dish they are well known for: Home-Made Cavatelli with Faicco's Hot Sausage & Browned Sage Butter. rich & delish.
for sides we got: Broccoli Rabe & Presevered Garlic, String Beans & Garlic & Polenta. all were perfectly done. the regular advises that you have to be a bit careful as they tend to burn some tricky tender roasted sides like parsnips and brussels spouts sometimes.
for dessert we had espressos and split a dish of Red Wine Prunes and Mascarpone, which is prob one of the best desserts in the world.
ps---some news is that FRANKIES is expanding to miami and 17 clinton street. i guess they are already on court street too, but i've never been there. also, while we were dining they got big delivery of some boxes of gift worthy looking tins of a made-for-the-house olive oil from italy, which one of the frankies proudly showed us. i dk i guess maybe you could buy it as a gift? ask if yr interested.
so overall despite the batali-esque expansion, there is no stopping FRANKIES it is as tasty good as always.
