I finally got iTunes set up on my computer, mainly to catch up on Splendid Table, and found their huge wealth of food podcasts. Gourmet's Diary of a Foodie is available, as well as very short technique videos from Cook's Illustrated (get to know the background chefs!) plus some often-defunct indie podcasts that are sometimes charming and sometimes hopelessly amateur.
My favorite discovery has been Crimes Against Food, an hour-long cast in the conversational style. The language is sometimes saltier than the food they are discussing, but hosts Mia and Gloria are very bright and witty. Topics I've checked out so far have included vulnerability of food supplies, what makes a bad restaurant, and soup, which is a pretty broad range.
Anyway, it's impossible to go through all of them, so I thought I'd see if anyone here has can't-miss recommendations. And for anyone interested, all podcasts are available free of charge through iTunes (unfortunately you do have to download their software). You probably could go site-to-site and get them free that way through winamp or another agent, but it's nice to have so many in once place. Don't mean to sound like an advertisement, I just get bouncy about new toys.
