What do you think of our food choices Part 2 :)

emma | Apr 1, 2005 06:07 AM

I posted regards to our food choices a few days ago and got lots of helpful info. I have replied but I thought Id start a new post just incase people dont see it :)

This is what I have wrote ....
WOW thank you all for your replies, regardless if you agree with our choices or not, its a great way to get feedback on these places.

One did stand out and made a lot of sense, asking to explain why i had choosen these places and what i was looking for incase people could offer a better alternative. Thank You! So here goes, please remember this is our first trip to NY and all we know is what we have read from the net etc.

Serendipity - Snack / late dinner on the day of arrival. Picked because I love the film and Im a romantic at heart, but also I suffer from jet lag really badly so the only way to keep me awake after my 10 hour flight would be the promise of visiting here and getting a frozen hot choc :) We may grab some wings too but our body clocks will still be on UK time but hey we will be in NY so who knows!

The Bull & Bear - Dinner. We chose this because the menu looks yummy, I love filet migeon (SP?) and also because we are staying at the Waldorf and would like to experience a resturant within the hotel. Also on the evening we plan to eat here we are going to Gotham the comedy club which I believe is within walking distance of the hotel.

John’s Pizza 260 W 44TH St - Late lunch Ive heard all about John's and really want to eat here but it seems that the Beeker St location is better. Would someone be able to tell me touristy things are in this area so I can try and re-jig my plans?

Norma's - Breakfast - Hubby wants to go somewhere for a great America breakfast. This is how it fitted into our plans, feel free to offer an alternative :)

Breakfast at Norma's. (Located in Le Parker Meridien 118 W 57th St btwn 6th & 7th Ave Go to Central Park and then head towards the Boathouse and from there go to the Met Museum (1000 Fifth Avenue at 82nd Street). Board the M1 Bus right outside the Museum's main entrance. Ride the M1 until you get to Rockefeller Center (Christmas tree). Walk across the street to visit St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Walk down Fifth Avenue to 44th Street and visit Grand Central Station. Whilst visiting Grand Central Station go to Junior’s for cheesecake (in the station terminal). Look at Chrysler Building and walk back to Fifth Avenue and head south (downtown) to 34th Street and visit the Empire State Building for a daytime view.

Junior’s - for cheesecake :)Above is where Juniors came in too, to be honest we just fitted that in as we were going to be there. Cheesecake isnt a must for us, but after this start to our morning, maybe a sit down will be :)

Nyonya - Lunch - Since I first posted this we have desided to go here for supper instead. Hubs found this place on the net and it sounded great. We wanted yummy food, frills or no frills really.

Balthazar - Dinner/ Supper We have heard great reviews from trip adviser about this place but an alternative suggestion is welcome.

The River Café - Dinner This will be our last evening in NY so we wanted a really specail meal, romantic, nice wine, you get the picture. Where else would you suggest?

Carmines. 200 W 44th St - Last meal in NY before our flight home. We read that this place does great pasta and as i really dislike airline food and hence never eat it, we thought it would be a good way to get a great dinner before we fly. But maybe a deli would be better? Or even we could go for the express steak at the bull and bear which they offer at lunchtimes and change our other dinner?

So I guess the best thing is for me to post our plans and you guys choose where we eat :) Money isn’t to much of an issue really so do your best! We like nice and tasty food. We love red sauce Italian, Chinese and America. Hubby also LOVES great wine.
