Coming back on the Ikea bus this past Sunday at about 1:15 pm, we stopped at a red light right before Port Authority. Must have been the SW corner on 40th at 9th Ave (but could have been 10th Ave). Saw a bunch of people milling around a parked sedan with the trunk open. A man had 2 big cardboard boxes of white styrofoam containers, and those who already had one were scarfing down their meals leaning against the wall of the nearby building. They seemed to be enjoying it.
I was too far away from my vantage point to see what was in the containers, and the bus pulled away before I could get a good look. Didn't get a chance to go back on foot.
Does anyone know anything about this? If not, would someone in that neighborhood be willing to scout it out?
Every once in a while, I will stumble upon entrepeneurial hausfraus with authenic ethnic food to sell (the Dominican mamas near the volleyball courts at Central Park, for instance). It's always worth a taste. They really looked like they were enjoying it.
