I visited Floating Rock last night for the first time. We enjoyed our food but much has been written by much more loquacious people than I. However while we were there we saw two other diners. These diners were in the middle of a interview with the owner and were ostentatously ordering 15 main dishes between them. They were also obviously taking tasting notes.
This was the most obvious and completely tacky restaurant review in progress that I have ever seen.
I felt ordering fifteen dishes at once meant that a fair tasting and review was pretty difficult to have. It also obviously overtaxed the kitchen staff.
I always thought any professional review worth reading was done anonymously.
We enjoyed the restaurant and hope to revisit before any mainstream reviews appear.
But the Red Rose in Lowell was reviewed by the Globe Calender mere days after I wrote about it here and now it appears Floating Rock will be too after a rash of good reviews on this board. Is this how the local rag finds good restaurants by trawling boards like this rather than exploring themselves?
