just had lunch there this afternoon for $20.12. they usually have a $25 3 course lunch special all year around but we wanted to try it out this week to see if the quality would be the same. we weren't disappointed!
first course they offered a soup or a spanish makeral tartar. we both opted for the tartar and it was excellent! it was more of a deconstructed dish as the makeral, creamy sauce, caviar, and 1 other element were all separated on a single dish. was surprised as it was not noted on the menu but it tasted very good individually mixed in the mouth and when mixed on the plate.
for the main i ordered the veal breast which was OUTSTANDING! fatty, juicy, and very very tasty. portion was perfect for lunch albeit if it was served for dinner i'd be a bit disappointed but for a lunch portion it was perfect. my friend had the fluke with a lobster sauce which was very good but i preferred my dish over the fish.
dessert was a bannana pudding with a caramel sauce which was again excellent and a pear tart with hazelnut ice cream which my friend deemed "very good."
the 3 course wine tasting was a bargain at $15 as well.
for those who haven't been to Fleur de Sel recently they renovated the interior completely. the bar is gone, instead there are more tables. the center of the dining room has an island table with holes to put bottles of "wines by the glass" in and the lighting seems to be a lot brighter. it feels like a new restaurant and i much preferred it to the decor before. anyway, just wanted to report that Fleur de Sel is firing in all points this week if anyone wanted to try it out.
