Where to find good ja jang myun and jam bong in Manhattan? Or even Queens?

I grew up in the MD/DC/VA area and in the years I've lived in NYC, I have yet to find a place that I think serves decent ja jang myun and jam bong (and tang soo yook ). I tried Shanghai Mong which I frankly thought was substandard. Although I've heard that Hyo Dong Gak is better, I'm wary of checking it out because I'm pretty certain that I'll be disappointed yet again. Can anyone confirm if it's worth a shot? Otherwise I'm going to have to wait until I visit my family to have ja jang myun and jam bong.

Is it just me or is it strange that these two dishes are difficult to find here? They seem to be pretty ubiquitous in MD/DC/VA and it's not hard to get a decent bowl there, even in a shopping center in Ellicott City. The place in the shopping center was much better than what I had at Shanghai Mong.
