Just tried El Tio for the first time tonight. On Rt. 29 a block up from Myanmar and near German Gourmet. Wow is it good. Finally a mom and pop mexican joint. Had the tacos al carbon (fabulous marinade, juicy, tender huge chunks of beef) and the shredded beef and cheese enchiladas. Enchiladas were excellent but the al carbon really stood out. Terrific. light chips and fresh salsa with a slight kick. $2.00 Dos Equis drafts (happy hour) to boot.
Chatted with the owner. They've only been open two months. Sat at the bar but the restaurant is very good sized with nice decor. Not a dive by any means. Nice place for a family dinner.
PLEASE patronize this place. We can't let them go under like every other restaurant in the past 5 years that inhabited this spot!
