On a lunch time stroll I swung by the Ferry Building Market Hall (easier to do now that our office just moved back to the Mission/Main area). Golden Gate Meats, which contradicts the culture of its environs by pocket-friendly pricing of its takeaway eats, was offering:
New! All Natural, All Beef Hot Dogs! $2.00
I winced at the sandwich board sign, which said "ketchup and mustard included" at the bottom (I mean, NOBODY puts ketchup on a hot dog!) but decided to bite, as it were, even though I had already finished my brown bag lunch.
The dog was steamed, came in a standard hot dog bun and was wrapped in lined foil. It was big, 1/4 pound, I'd guess. I noted with relief that the dressings were provided on the side, and decided to eat it naked to assess the flavor. Nothing remarkable, just a nice hot-doggy flavor despite the presumed absence of the N twins (Nitrate and Nitrite) and not too fatty. A dollop of yellow mustard on it and I'd start thinking about Spring Training, but it's too eaarly for that.
