Moving this here, for more comments. Some of those on a smaller thread were soooooo true, glad to see I am not the only one to be put off by the attitude at Equus. And glad to read the real scoop on Eastchester Fish Gourmet, wanted to go there based on Zagat, now I won't! FISH is indeed very good.

Sal's for pizza is good, as is Johnnie's, but THE best, on the planet? Pepe's in New Haven, CT. THE best.

Good bread? Try The Bread Factory in New Rochelle.

Zeph's is really good, as was Finch Tavern and Sonora. Sonora was very expensive, very crowded but the food was amazing.

Yes to Bengal Tiger (better than Dawat), and Azuma for sushi. I can't think of the name of the place in Armonk, a strip mall where there used to be a big lot with mounds of fertilizer, next to David Chen, but really good (imo) sushi there.

Yes to Ye Olde Tollgate for steak like Peter Luger's.

Like Hunan Village in Yonkers for Chinese.

On LaManda's, good food, but be prepared to get your salad, appetizer and entree all at the same time, if you don't protest. Yes, they're that busy and try that hard to hustle you out. Good, good food though.

SO glad to have found this site.
