Thanks to all of you who answered to my query for a Father's Day brunch with many conditions (picky eaters, no patience for lines, decent priced). Special thanks to the recommendation for Mirabelle (et tu WildSwede?) - it proved to be a hit.
Never knew about this place, and I have never been sober enough on Sunset to really notice it across the way from Tower Records. I have seen many posts, so I recommended it for my gurlfrend, who was charged with arranging her family's outing on Sunday.
We had 1PM reservations and aside from a slow hostess (albeit pleasant in manner and easy on the eyes)we were seated in the outside patio. The patio is REALLY nice, covered from the sun but allowing natural light to make it through the light colored awning. I felt really relaxed throughout the meal. Service was very pleasant and even was accomodating to the most picky of our party.
Menu was limited (I thought they would offer both breakfast and lunch menus as seen online, but they had instead a Father's Day brunch menu). Somebody ordered the Mirabelle Chopped (included gorgonzola, candied pecans, light vinaigrette) which I was allowed to try and I liked a lot. Someone ordered the Eggs Benedict XVI (nyuk nyuk) which came on rye and with black forest ham - pretty decent. My GF ordered the stuff french toast which came with peaches and vanilla yogurt - sinful. I was unimpressed with my Italian Sausage frittata (although the sausage was VERY good), but this place has a lot of upside. Interesting mix of people and GF's kid brother making eyes at the hostess (and me too, I will admit - HA)made for good people watching. Everyone enjoyed themselves, so that was what was important.
Like I said, this place has some potential (hello? happy hour 7 days a week? ) so I will be back. The lunch and dinner menus really look nice.
