Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on the new place in the old Novelty spot, it's Farmicia, on 3rd between Market and Chestnut.
We went last night for dinner and really enjoyed it. According to their menu they try to obtain their ingredients from local vendors, organic when possible.
Appetizers- had a delicious corn crepe with a mushroom filling, it had a southwestern flavor to it. Really really good. Also shared a pear and mache salad that was delicate and tasty although not really big enough to share. Appetizer portions were on the small side.
We each had a fish entree- I had the citrus crusted fluke on a bed of roasted vegetable stew- fantastic- and my husband had the whole trout which came over some kind apple and root vegetable mixture, that was also very good.
Cocktails were excellent, bread was also great- dessert was not that good- roasted peaches with a puff pastry- and my husband's espresso was more like a small cup of black coffee. But we will definitely be back. The seasonal/american menu is a nice change and also, the bar seemed like a good place to meet up after work for a drink.
