last time we went to alta mar was last christmas- not too impressed, but gave them the benefit of the doubt because it was the holiday. went again last night- thought we should give it another try because miami hounds rave about it.
first off, not thrilled about sitting outside next to a glaring bright printer store, with the smelly cars and cab stands right next to you. yes, it is a less crazy part of lincoln, but i would rather people-watch in the thick of lincoln than eat in a parking lot.
maybe we are spoiled with fresh fish because we are from new england, but the keys snapper special was tiny, very fishy and served with canned grapefruit. the grouper ceviche was okay- can't really mess that up, but lots of bones in the pieces. the alta mar soup was a nice broth of ginger and truffle, but seafood was fair at best. black grouper with caper and tomato concasse was decent, but not enough to bring me back.
overall, not impressed.
