FALAFEL!!!! NOW AND FOREVER

JAQUELINE | Nov 20, 2004 08:10 PM

I KNOW IM A LOSER BUT HERE IT GOES: I EAT FALAFEL EVERYDAY AND AM NEVER SCARED TO TRY NEW PLACES BECAUSE NOT ALL FALAFEL ARE THE SAME!!! THE TWO TYPES OF FALAFEL ARE EITHER WITH CHICK PEAS OR FAVAS, THE CHICK PEAS USUALLY ARE FOUND IN THE LEBANESE, SYRIAN, AND PALESTINIAN SHOPS (DONT MEAN TO OFFEND, BUT THIS IS WHAT WE ODDLY CALL ISRAELI FALAFEL) FAVAS ARE LIKE FOR EGYPTIANS AND STUFF I PERSONALLY LIKE CHICK PEAS. HERE'S A RUNDOWN OF MY FAVE SPOTS:

RAINBOW FALAFEL IN UNION SQUARE ON 17TH BETW 5TH AN BWAY- LONG LINES BUT EFFICIENT SERVICE DURING LUNCH

FARAJ FALAFEL IN TRIBECA ON CHURCH ST BETW CHAMBERS AND READE??- MY NEW FAVORITE, FOR THIS MONTH AT LEAST :) REALLY UNIQUE FLAVOR, ASK FOR THE HOT SAUCE AND THE PICKLES TOO!! COME AT NIGHT, NO LONG LINES AND THE CUTE GUY THERE EXPLAINS EVERYTHING TO YOU IF YOU A FIRST TIME FALAFELERRRRER ;P

ALFANOOOOOOOOSE - THIS GUY CLOSED AND MOVED HIS STORE TO LOWER BROADWAY MAIDEN LANE I THINK?, VERY NICE PEOPLE AND VERY GOOD FOOD, DEFINITELY MUST EAT LOCATION WHEN YOU GO DOWNTOWN, A BIT PRICEY FOR FALAFEL BUT I THINK IF YOU CAN AFFORD ITS WORTH IT!!

HMMM I GUESS THIS POST WASN'T AS COMPREHENSIVE AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE. HELP ME OUT GUYS!!!
