Just wanted to share with OC Chowhounds a truly special and yummy place I recently found in Irvine.
They have made to order sandwiches served on the cafe's own baked french baguettes [though whole wheat is also an option] and daily vegan soups including dall (golden lentil); & barley and vegetable.
The cafe also has made to order vegetarian entrees including my favorite Tofu Biryani. Unlike the now-defunct Veggie Tea Houes in Irvine, there is a lot more flavor and life to the food.
Based on a recent review by the "Irvine World News", my carnivorous boyfriend ordered and raved about the non-vegetarian Grilled Chicken Breast Quesadilla with fresh guacamole. But he says that if you like your food extra spicy [as he does], bring your own hot sauce because the cafe's "mild hot sauce" might not cut it.
Finally, its smoothies are amazing because the owner doesn't blend sugary sorbet or frozen yogurt into his smoothies and yet, it still tastes very good.
As an added bonus, there's also FREE wi-fi.
The only gripe with this place is that its hard to see from the street, so look closely:
