We try to come to New Orleans at least once a year, if not more. We are seeking new experiences of authentic local food.
For example, we are not interested in the newest trendy tapas places like Ramplas, etc, , nor New York-like restaurants (as we are New Yorkers) but New Louisiana cooking would be fine.
Not interested in Italian, Asian, Mexican , or other ethnic , nor burger places, as there is plenty of that elsewhere.
We love oysters, crawfish, crabs, fish, bbq shrimp (messy is fine), and duck .
It can be expensive to cheap but it has to be good. We have been to August, Commanders, NOLA, Acme, Bayona, Cochon, Deanies, Brigsten's, Redfish, Cafe DuMonde, Central Grocery, Dante's - to name a few. We loved August, Acme, Bayona, Cafe DuMonde, CG and Deanie's BBQ shrimp.
Would appreciate local recommendations and specific dishes to order that one has to have. Think of local places you have to go to as soon as you have returned from a long trip. Many thanks!!!
