an excellent meal at Long Reach's Garden Gourmet

Garden Gourmet at Columbia's Long REach village center is definitely a hidden little gem. My significant other and I went there last evening for dinner. She started a delicious bowl of miso soup with plenty of tofu and seaweed and a really rich broth and I had their excellent hot and sour soup. We shared an appetizer platter, which consisted of two eggrolls. two shrimp toast which are just as good as the dimsum quality ones we have enjoyed at Hunan Legend in Dorsey's search, two tender and flaky "crab rangoon", two chicken wings with a nice flaky tempura-type coating and two tender delicious pieces of grilled beef (like satay). Her main course was a delicious and plentiful mushu pork with homemade pancakes. The only other place that I have EVER had homemade pancakes was Szechuan Best on Liberty road and Garden Gourmet's version was actually a little better. My main course were shrimp and scallops in a delicious black bean sauce with green peppers and onions. The scallops were jumbo-sized extremely fresh sea scallops and the shrimp were near jumbo-sized and equally delicious. The bill for this superb meal was less than thirty-one dollars.I hope other 'hounds get a chance to check out Garden Gourmet.
