There is an absolutely nondescript strip center on the East side of S. Belcher, between Nursery and Harn, that happens to house several establishments worthy of notice of local 'hounds. Enzos pizza is one of those places.
Enzos is a true wood fired, copper oven, pizza joint. This translates into extremely thin and crisp crusted, slightly smoky, absolutely delicious pizza. Crunchy bits of cornmeal in the crust help make an exceptional base for the pies. Toppings are lightly scattered; don't expect a thick layer of meat and/or vegetables. This is all about a great crust, fresh, high quality topping ingredients, a well prepared marinara sauce, and the cooking method: it all really works. Of note to those happening by at lunch time, or looking for a snack, there are slices available.
Also, I have no complaints about their hot meatball sub with marinara and mozzarella; I expect to see a few more of those in my future.
The decor in the restaurant is just plain comical. The wood for the oven is sort of piled in the middle of the dining area, next to the cash register. There is kind of an arched entry built out of red bricks with some hanging greenery. The same red bricks climb along the walls at odd angles, with what look to be samples of square foot granite floor tiles, in assorted colors, posed in diamond position here and there above the red bricks. You just have to laugh at how the place looks, but dine in or take out, the wood fired pizza is worth it.
Pizza: small $7, medium $9, large $11, toppings fifty cents to a dollar, the usual suspects. Meatball sub $6.
Service over the top attentive, parking very easy.
