Okay, so this Boston 'hound and New England girl (born and raised) is heading to your lovely city for the weekend and I'd be thrilled for some recommendations.
Some insight: I still dig clams and pull mussels with my granddad, so seafood is certainly at the top of the list. Trying the best of your regional dishes is important (I'm not well-informed on the topic yet.) I'm also a big fan of great local "joints" with wonderful food and fun atmosphere - it's all about the experience, right? One upscale dinner out will be in the plans. And just like in Boston, I don't mind paying for an expensive meal at all - I just want it to be memorable. One more thing...I love Caribbean cooking - stewed chicken, rice & peas, channa, roti - and I'd love to see how the West Indians are doing it in NO.
I'm staying at the Avenue Plaza Hotel on St. Charles near Jackson and will have a car.
Oh, and this girl loves a good cocktail.
